Dr. Lauren Barber

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Lauren Barber grew up in Ontario, Canada and Maryland. She went to The University of Florida for her bachelor’s in Animal Biology where she studied livestock and was a member of the UF Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Team. She then stayed on at UF for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine making her a “Double Gator”.

Dr. Barber then spent her internship after veterinary school at the San Diego Humane Society looking after every species: dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, rabbits, livestock, and even wildlife. While at SDHS, Dr. Barber spent as much time as she could working at the Behavior Center that allows for evaluation and rehab of dogs and cats with behavioral needs to make them available for adoption.

Dr. Barber spent time after her internship working in emergency medicine between San Diego and Denver. She also worked as the primary veterinarian caring for the animals in a big cat sanctuary focusing on enrichment and overall health of the residents.

When not in the hospital, Dr. Barber spends her time with her 4 rescue dogs Dukkha, Lola, Kira, and Harvey, hiking, camping, or traveling between State and National Parks.
