Behavior Vets 4 Vets

Behavior Vets 4 Vets Consults

The Behavior Vets 4 Vets program provides much-needed, international support for caregivers and veterinarians struggling with an animal’s behavior. We understand how difficult it can be to find the right support, and we’re here to make it easier.

This program puts the relationship between caregivers and their primary veterinarians first.

You + Behavior Vets

First, you, as the primary veterinarian on the case, will fill out this quick and easy form (which takes less than 5 minutes) to confirm your participation.  Complete 1 form for each case. If you have an inter-dog or inter-cat aggression case, we recommend an appointment for each pet that is involved. Once your form is received, our team will collect payment directly from the client. We encourage clients to schedule a paid appointment with you after their consult to review your preferred treatment plan.

Behavior Vets

Our team will contact all clinics that have seen your patient, to obtain complete medical records.

Client + Behavior Vets

We will request the client send in any training notes, previous behavior consult summaries, or videos. Once you’ve authorized the consult, our staff will reach out to the client to schedule an appointment with one of our Behavior Coordinators. In this appointment, they will take the history, discuss safety and management protocols, and go over initial training strategies they can start immediately. The client may opt-in for behavior training support at this time.

Next a Behavior Vet reviews the case and sends possible next steps to you by email (typically within 3 business days).  Once you look over the options, you can deliver the plans you think are best to your client however you prefer.  We will send supportive handouts that you can share with the client.

Virtual Behavior Training Support

Our Behavior Coordinator can also assist in setting the client up with behavior training sessions with one of our Behavior Consultants, either in-person or virtual, depending on their location. This is wonderful for clients who do not have hands-on help or may want to work with our  Behavior Consultants to improve the speed of progress.  These can be scheduled at any time during the process or by having the client reach out to us directly.

Follow Up Recommendations

You!

You, as the primary veterinarian, will continue to help guide the client with any questions they may have after they institute the Plan that you recommended. We cannot answer client questions directly due to VCPR laws.  If you have any questions about the Plan or the case, feel free to email our Behavior Vet at behaviorvets4vets@behaviorvets.com.

Our Behavior Vet will answer any questions you may have or may suggest that the client schedule a BV4V Follow Up appointment for further guidance. BV4V follow-up appointments are recommended every 4-8 weeks, or sooner if needed.  If your client is satisfied with their original Plan, no follow-up is required!
